Prince Eltram

Role Rightful King of Ulek — sealed
Born ~4474 AR, at sea (now Prince Eltram Landing)
Status Sealed in the Temple of Primordial Evil since ~4504 AR
Significance The seal on the temple is also the seal on his claim

Overview

Prince Eltram was born on a dying ship to a dying king, at a port that didn't yet have a name. He never ruled. He was never crowned. He led the last great campaign of the civilized world against the Mother of Monsters and paid for it with everything — including the throne he should have inherited.

He is still there. Sealed. Waiting. Not dead.

Birth (~4474 AR)

Born at sea during the catastrophic return voyage of the last King Ulek, after the king was struck by a shadow-cursed arrow in an orc ambush south of the Dark Sea. His mother was Lady Annabelle. His father died witnessing the birth. The port where Annabelle gave birth was later named Prince Eltram Landing by the people who understood what had happened there.

He returned to Ardentis as the rightful heir with no living king to crown him, in a world already losing its grip on the institutions that would have made his succession clean.

The Campaign (~4504 AR)

At approximately thirty years old, Eltram led the final crusading campaign against the Mother of Monsters — the last attempt by the civilized peoples to eliminate her presence permanently. The target was the Temple of Primordial Evil near Xas, home of Aerom Latan, her child husband.

He drove his armies into the temple complex. He reached his objective. And then the divine compact asserted itself.

The Sealing

By fighting against the terms of a Godly compact — the divine agreement ceding certain territory to the Mother of Monsters — Eltram's armies forfeited their right to leave. He and his entire host were sealed inside the temple alongside Aerom Latan, at the third level.

The seal holds two truths simultaneously:

  • Aerom Latan is contained.
  • If the seal breaks, the compact is void — and Eltram walks free.

The ground-level seal was already broken ~4700 AR by the Scrambledough Seven. Three seals remain.

What He Means

Eltram's sealed status is the cleanest expression of what the Ulek Empire lost. There is a rightful king. He is alive. He cannot leave. Every pretender since — every committee, every usurper, every faction — exists in the space created by his absence.
